Hugo van der Meij
Hugo van der Meij was born in Katwijk on March 30, 1992. From a very young age he could be found behind the piano, which resulted in piano lessons at the age of 8, from Peter Bontje. After several years of piano lessons, this was on the back burner during high school. When he was 16 he took organ lessons from Sjaak van Duijn, also in Katwijk. He was 20 years old when he took the course in choral conducting at the UCK in Utrecht. Currently Hugo is conductor of 2 men's choirs, a mixed choir and a men's ensemble. He also plays throughout the country as a choral accompanist on both organ and piano, and gives more and more solo organ concerts. Concert tours have taken Hugo to Belgium, Germany, England, France, Luxembourg and Canada. He also collaborated on more than 30 CD recordings. Besides his musical activities, Hugo works at the Hoornbeeck College in Gouda as a teacher of music and communication. Hugo is church organist in the Christelijke Gereformeerde Kerk in Katwijk, and regularly plays services in other churches. For more information please visit www.hugovandermeij.nl.
