Content Cambiare 323 (Hauptwerk) for Campbell College, Belfast

Return to overview

In early June, a team from Content Organs travelled to the iconic Campbell College in Belfast for the installation and voicing of a custom Content Cambiare 323. In the impressive chapel, with its warm acoustics and monumental character, the instrument came beautifully into its own.

The choice for this particular model was partly inspired by a previous installation at Glenstal Abbey, where one of Campbell College’s organists had the opportunity to hear the instrument in practice. The rich tonal colours, realistic playing experience, and flexibility of the Cambiare series were convincing and formed the basis for the final decision. Our partner AA Music supports the college with additional service and support.

The organ is equipped with two audio systems that can be used separately or in combination. In the choir section, a four-channel choir audio system has been installed, ideal for choir accompaniment and use during organ lessons. Behind the original pipework, a powerful six-channel main audio system fills the entire chapel with beautiful organ sounds.

To cover the full desired repertoire, three high-quality sample sets were chosen. English Romanticism comes to life through two typically English sample sets, rich in fundamental tone and dynamic character. For Baroque repertoire, the clear and transparent Marcussen organ (1959) from the Laurenskerk in Rotterdam was added, allowing a broad musical palette to be heard.

During the voicing process, we worked closely with the organists and school representatives. The result is an instrument that not only excels musically but is also fully tailored to the acoustics and use of this unique chapel.

We wish the staff and students of Campbell College much inspiration, playing enjoyment, and listening pleasure with their new organ!
