Open Day at Content Organs
We are pleased to reflect on a wonderful and successful Open Day! Hundreds of visitors made their way to Ermelo to attend various concerts, play the organs, or explore our organ workshop and the booths of our exhibitors. Adequate catering was also available, along with a cycling course for children.
In our concert hall, a varied musical program was offered, designed to satisfy a broad audience. Rotterdam organist Arjan Breukhoven presented a commemoration of Feike Asma, during which he performed Asma's most famous choral arrangements. Young organist Michael Verniers also offered a program dedicated to Bach, including the well-known Passacaglia and Fugue (BWV 582). The duo concert featuring Hugo van der Meij (organ) and Carina Petersen (pan flute) also attracted a large audience, with a selection of classical pieces interspersed with improvisations on well-known psalms and hymns. Renowned organist Martin Mans performed a solo concert as well as a closing concert with Gert van Hoef. Together, they played several organ works solo and concluded the concert on two organs with the famous Toccata from the Suite Gothique by Léon Boëllmann. Additionally, young promising talent Luc Budding (13 years old) also delivered a remarkable performance, playing the variations on "Merck toch hoe sterck" by Cor Kee and a brilliant interpretation of the choral fantasy on Psalm 138 by Hector Olivera.
In addition to the musical program in our concert hall, visitors had the opportunity to play our organs, including the new Cambiare Suite. Throughout the Open Day, no organ bench remained unoccupied, and it is encouraging to see the growing interest of young people in the organ and organ music. This bodes well for the future. This day was experienced as a big family day. We thank you for your presence!
