Dordrecht Grote Kerk
In 1859 the Rotterdam organ maker Willem Hendrik Kam built a completely new organ in the old case from 1671 that is still present. The instrument then has 51 voices, divided over 3 manuals and pedal. Eight years later, in 1867, many defects are noted. In 1869, the company Bätz-Witte in Utrecht carried out repair work. The Maria choir is set up as a workshop for this. The composition of the Mixtures is changed and the Sharp of the Manual is replaced by a Gemshorn 2'.
Various activities
After a large-scale restoration of the Grote Kerk (1902-1939), a thorough restoration of the organ was carried out by the firm Gerrit van Leeuwen & Zn. in Leiderdorp. The front pipes are polished and provided with a layer of varnish. The Violon 16' of the pedal and the Viola 8' of the Bovenwerk are renewed, the pedalboard is replaced and a pedal couple 'in connection with the Rugwerk' is applied. Because the attack of the Manual is still very heavy, a pseudo Barker system is installed in 1939.
